Yorkie Supplies: What Do I Need for a Yorkie Puppy
Bringing home a new Yorkshire Terrier puppy is an exciting and heartwarming experience. As a proud Yorkie puppy owner, I remember feeling both thrilled and a bit overwhelmed trying to prepare for my tiny fur-baby’s arrival. To help you get started on the right paw, I’ve put together a list of Yorkie puppy essentials – all the yorkie supplies and accessories you’ll need to keep your little one healthy, happy, and comfortable.
When writing a list of accessories for yorkies, it’s important not to skip any item that will ease the first months with your puppy.

How to Prepare for a Yorkie Puppy
How to prepare for a Yorkie puppy? First, create a safe, cozy space for your new pup. Yorkies are tiny and curious, so you’ll want to puppy-proof your home by removing any small objects or dangerous items at floor level.
Set up a designated puppy area with easy-to-clean flooring. A playpen or gated area works great to keep your Yorkie safe when you can’t watch them closely.
In this area, place a comfortable bed, some toys, a water bowl, and puppy pads (for potty training). Having this setup ready before your Yorkie comes home will make the transition easier for both of you.
Next, stock up on the Yorkie puppy essentials listed in this guide. Think about the daily routine of a puppy: they’ll need to eat, sleep, play, potty, and get lots of love and training. So you’ll need small dog accessories like appropriately sized feeding bowls, a snug bed, and chew toys for teething.
It’s also wise to have grooming supplies ready since Yorkies require regular brushing and occasional baths right from puppyhood. As you prepare, ask yourself: What do I need for a Yorkie puppy?
The answer includes not just food and a bed, but also things like a harness and leash for walks, identification tags, cleaning supplies for accidents, and health items like a toothbrush and ear cleaner. Don’t worry – we’ll cover all these yorkie supplies in detail below.
Lastly, educate yourself a bit on Yorkie care and temperament. Yorkie puppies are full of energy and personality. They can be a tad fragile due to their size, so always handle your pup gently and supervise interactions with young children or larger pets. If you bought a teacup Yorkie, then you need to watch out for these twice.
Walking Gear for Yorkies: Harness, Leash, and ID
One of the very first yorkie supplies you’ll need is proper walking gear. Even though Yorkies are small, they are spirited little dogs who need daily walks and outdoor adventures. When it comes to accessories for small dogs like Yorkies, safety and fit are top priorities. Here’s what to have:
Harness and Leash
Unlike bigger dogs, Yorkies should always be walked on a harness rather than just a collar. Yorkies (and other toy breeds) are prone to delicate necks and a condition called collapsed trachea if too much pressure is put on their throat.
A well-fitted harness takes the pressure off their neck and keeps your pup safe on walks. I chose the Lovely Yorkie Harness & Leash for my puppy, which is specifically designed for small dogs. This harness-and-leash set is lightweight, soft on my Yorkie’s tiny frame, and absolutely adorable to boot. The leash is a comfortable length for training and neighborhood walks. Using a harness has given me peace of mind that I’m protecting my pup’s neck while we explore.

Collar and ID Tags
Even though you’ll use a harness for walks, it’s a good idea to have a light collar for holding an ID tag. An ID tag with your phone number is essential in case your Yorkie ever slips away (even if you plan to microchip them, an external ID is helpful for quick contact). I use the Teddy Dream Yorkie Collar for everyday wear.
It’s a soft, small dog accessory that’s gentle on my Yorkie’s neck and comes with an engravable name tag. I had my puppy’s name and my number engraved on it for safety. The collar even has a cute design (mine has a little bow!) so it doubles as a stylish accessory. Remember, the collar is mainly for identification and occasional use – for walks, clip your leash to the harness, not the collar.

Identification
In addition to a collar ID tag, consider having your Yorkie microchipped at the vet. It’s a one-time implant that greatly increases the chance of being reunited if your dog gets lost. But since microchips require a scanner, an easy-to-read ID tag on the collar is the fastest way someone can help return your pet.
Many Yorkie collars, like the one I mentioned, come with engraved buckles or charms. The Teddy Dream collar’s engraved buckle means my pup’s info is always on her, even if the dangling tag falls off.
Yorkie Supplies for Sleeping and Rest
Just like human babies, puppies spend a lot of time sleeping. Your Yorkie will need a comfortable bed and a safe space to relax. In fact, a cozy sleeping area is high on the list of yorkie puppy essentials. Here’s what to prepare:
Dog Bed
Yorkies may be small, but they absolutely appreciate a soft, supportive bed of their own. Having a dedicated bed gives your pup a sense of security and helps protect their tiny joints from hard floors. When I brought my puppy home, I got her the Bear Hug Yorkie Bed, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice.
This bed looks like an adorable teddy bear and literally “hugs” my Yorkie – it has plush sides and arms that make her feel cuddled. The Bear Hug bed is ultra-soft and the perfect size for a Yorkie to curl up in. I love that it has a non-slip bottom, so it stays put in her playpen. Every night, my pup happily trots into her little Yorkie bed and settles in for sleep, which makes crate training and bedtime routines so much easier.

Crate or Playpen
In addition to a bed, consider setting up a crate or puppy playpen for your Yorkie. Crate training is a useful tool for potty training and keeping your puppy safe when you’re not able to supervise closely. A small dog crate (with the bed or a soft blanket inside) becomes like a den – dogs instinctively like having a small, enclosed space to relax.
Make sure the crate is just big enough for your Yorkie to stand up, turn around, and lie down; if it’s too large, they might use one corner as a bathroom. If you prefer a bit more space, a plastic or metal exercise pen can section off an area of a room for your puppy.
I used a playpen lined with pee pads during the day, with the bed and toys on one side and pads on the other for accidents. This setup helped my puppy learn where to potty while also giving her a safe zone to play in without getting into trouble.
Blankets
Along with the bed, have a couple of soft blankets on hand. Yorkies can get cold easily because of their small size and low body fat. A lightweight fleece blanket in their bed can help your pup stay warm and cozy, especially if you bring them home at 8-12 weeks old when they’re still very small. I kept one blanket in my Yorkie’s bed and another in her carrier for outings.
Puppy Pads and Floor Protection
In the early stages, you’ll likely be using puppy pee pads for house-training (especially if your Yorkie is tiny or during bad weather). Place a pad near their bed or in the playpen for nighttime or when you’re away. It’s also smart to have an enzymatic cleaner for any accidents on floors or carpets. Cleaning up accidents thoroughly will prevent repeat marking and keep your home smelling fresh.
Creating a comfortable sleeping and living area is so important for your puppy’s well-being. Yorkies love to burrow and feel safe. By providing a soft bed like the Bear Hug and a secure crate or pen, you’re giving them their own little “den.” This not only helps them sleep better (which puppies do a lot!) but also aids in training – a puppy who loves their bed is more likely to nap there instead of on your couch, and a puppy accustomed to a crate will feel less anxious when crated at night or during travel.
Remember, consistency is key. For the first few weeks, I kept my Yorkie’s bed in a quiet corner of my bedroom at night so she wouldn’t feel lonely (Yorkies can be prone to separation anxiety).
During the day, her nap area was in the living room so she could be near me. Now that she’s older, she drags her favorite blanket around and naps wherever I am – but she still adores that teddy bear bed! Investing in quality accessories for Yorkies like a good bed pays off with a happier, calmer puppy.
Feeding Supplies for Yorkie Puppies
Feeding time is a big deal for a tiny pup! You’ll want to have the right supplies to ensure your Yorkie eats and drinks comfortably. Here’s what to include in your feeding kit:
Food and Water Bowls
Choose shallow, small bowls that are easy for your Yorkie puppy to reach. Because Yorkies are a toy breed, regular dog bowls might be too deep or tall. Look for accessories for small dogs such as mini stainless-steel or ceramic bowls with non-slip bottoms. I use two ceramic bowls about 4 inches in diameter – one for water and one for food. They’re weighted enough that my excited little pup doesn’t tip them over. Make sure the water bowl is always accessible and filled with fresh water; Yorkies may be small but they’re active and need to stay hydrated. Some owners opt for an elevated feeder (a little raised platform for the bowls) since small dog accessories like raised bowls can aid digestion and keep their neck in a comfortable position while eating. If you do this, ensure it’s only slightly elevated for a Yorkie’s height.
High-Quality Puppy Food
While not a “supply” you keep long-term like a bowl, selecting the right food is crucial. Yorkie puppies have fast metabolisms and tiny stomachs, so they need nutrient-dense, high-quality puppy kibble (or wet food) formulated for small breeds.
Be sure to have a bag of the food your breeder or shelter was feeding, and if you plan to switch to another brand, do so gradually to avoid tummy upset. Because Yorkies are prone to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) as puppies, they often do best with 3–4 small meals a day initially. Use your feeding times as part of your bonding and training routine – I made my puppy sit calmly before setting down her bowl, which helped instill good manners.
Slow Feeder or Puzzle Bowl (Optional)
Some Yorkie pups gobble their food quickly (mine sure did!). To make mealtime more engaging and prevent gulping, you can use a slow-feed bowl or a feeding toy. One great option is the Slow Feeder Yorkie Toy, which I got after a recommendation and my pup loves it. This clever little feeder turns eating into a game – you hide kibble or treats in the compartments, and your Yorkie has to sniff and paw at it to get the food out. It slows down their eating pace and provides mental stimulation at the same time.
I found that using the slow feeder toy in the evenings really helped tire out my puppy’s mind and satisfied her natural foraging instincts. Plus, it’s super fun to watch her figure it out! If you’re concerned about fast eating or just want to enrich mealtimes, this interactive feeder is a fantastic yorkie accessory to have.
Treats and Treat Pouch
Training a Yorkie puppy requires lots of positive reinforcement, so stock up on tiny, soft training treats. Pick treats made for small dogs (pea-sized or that can be broken up easily). Having a treat pouch that clips to your belt can be very handy during training sessions and walks.
I filled my pouch with treats and a few pieces of her kibble, which kept me ready to reward good behavior instantly – crucial when teaching commands or housebreaking. Treats are definitely an essential part of your yorkie supplies, since you’ll use them to teach “sit,” “come,” and of course praise them for going potty in the right spot.
Feeding Schedule and Mats
Along with the physical supplies, establish a consistent feeding schedule. Most Yorkie puppies do well with breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and sometimes an extra small meal or snack before bedtime when very young). Keeping a routine will help regulate their digestion and potty times.
To keep your floors clean, you might also use a silicone or plastic feeding mat under the bowls. This catches any spills – and trust me, puppies can be messy eaters. My Yorkie used to love grabbing a mouthful of kibble and trotting off, dropping pieces as she went. A mat under her bowls made cleanup easier and also kept the bowls from sliding.
Grooming and Hygiene Yorkie Supplies and Accessories
Yorkshire Terriers are known for their gorgeous, silky coats – which means grooming is a big part of caring for a Yorkie puppy. Starting grooming habits early will keep your pup looking and feeling great, and it’s also a wonderful bonding time. Here are the grooming supplies you’ll need for your Yorkie:
Brush and Comb
Regular brushing is absolutely essential for Yorkies. Their hair can grow long and is similar to human hair, which tangles easily if not maintained. For a puppy, start with a soft-bristle brush or a gentle slicker brush to get them used to being brushed all over. As they grow, you might upgrade to a pin brush or continue with a slicker, and use a metal comb to gently work through any knots. I can’t live without my Self-Cleaning Yorkie Brush – it’s designed specifically for Yorkie coats. This brush has fine bristles with coated tips, so it detangles my pup’s hair without scratching her sensitive skin.
The best part is the self-cleaning feature: with the press of a button, the hair comes off the brush for easy cleanup. I brush my Yorkie every evening (a quick 5-minute session) to prevent mats from forming.
She’s come to enjoy this routine, often dozing off in my lap as I gently brush through her coat. Regular brushing not only keeps her fur smooth and shiny, but it also reduces shedding around the house and lets me check for any skin issues or pests.

Dog Shampoo and Bath Supplies
Yorkie puppies don’t need daily baths, but you should bathe them about once every 2-4 weeks (or if they get into something messy). Use a gentle dog shampoo formulated for puppies or sensitive skin.
Human shampoos or harsh soaps can irritate a dog’s skin. I use a mild oatmeal-based puppy shampoo that leaves my Yorkie’s coat clean and soft without drying her skin. Have a stack of soft towels for drying (Yorkies can get chilled easily, so wrap them up warmly after a bath) and optionally a hairdryer on the cool or low setting if your pup tolerates it to help dry that long hair.

Nail Clippers or Grinder
Those tiny paws have tiny toenails that grow fast! Trimming your Yorkie’s nails regularly (about every 2-3 weeks) will keep their feet healthy and prevent painful splits or snags. You can use small guillotine-style dog nail clippers made for small breeds, or a pet nail grinder which files the nails down gradually.
Many owners are nervous about nail trimming (puppies often aren’t thrilled either), but starting young gets them used to it. I personally use a quiet electric nail grinder on my pup because it avoids any sharp cuts and I can take off just a little at a time.
Always be cautious of the quick (the blood vessel inside the nail). If you trim a bit each time and give lots of praise and a treat afterward, your Yorkie will learn that pawdicures aren’t so bad. Pro tip: Keep some styptic powder on hand in case you accidentally nick the quick – it stops bleeding fast.
Dental Care
Don’t overlook dental hygiene in your list of Yorkie supplies. Small breeds like Yorkies can have dental issues and are prone to plaque buildup. Get a dog toothbrush and toothpaste. If you didn’t know, there are dog toothpastes with peanut butter taste.
While it might sound silly to brush a dog’s teeth, it makes a huge difference in their health long-term. Try to brush your puppy’s teeth a few times a week. Start by letting them lick the toothpaste from your finger, then gradually introduce the toothbrush.
My Yorkie thinks brushing is a game (probably because the toothpaste tastes like chicken to her). There are also dental chews sized for small dogs that can help keep teeth clean, but nothing beats a good brushing habit. Healthy teeth and gums will ensure your pup can enjoy their food and play tug-of-war pain-free for years to come.
Ear Cleaning Solution
Those cute perky Yorkie ears need some care too. To prevent ear infections (which can be common in small dogs), you should clean your puppy’s ears periodically, especially if you notice wax or a slight odor.
I use the Yorkie Ear Cleaning Solution once a week as part of our grooming routine. It’s a gentle liquid that I apply to a cotton ball and then wipe the inside of her ears (never go deep into the ear canal with anything).
This solution helps dissolve wax and keeps her ears fresh, reducing the chance of bacteria or yeast growing. At first, my pup didn’t love the sensation, but now she sits patiently because she knows a treat comes right after! Keeping the ears clean and dry (especially after baths) will go a long way in preventing ear problems.

Tear Stain Wipes and Grooming Wipes
Many Yorkies have light-colored fur around their eyes and can get tear stains (reddish-brown staining from their tears). Having some tear stain wipes or a gentle eye cleaning solution can help keep their face clean. I wipe the corners of my puppy’s eyes daily with a damp cotton pad to prevent gunk build-up. Additionally, unscented pet grooming wipes are super handy for quick clean-ups – like wiping paws after a walk or cleaning their bottom if needed. I keep a pack by the door and by her crate.
Hair Trimming Supplies
Depending on how you plan to keep your Yorkie’s coat, you might eventually need some trimming tools. Many Yorkie owners either learn to do light trimming at home or schedule regular grooming appointments. If you want that classic long Yorkie show coat, you’ll need to commit to a lot of brushing and maybe tying up the hair on top of their head (with those adorable little bows) to keep it out of their eyes.
If you prefer a low-maintenance “puppy cut,” you (or a groomer) will trim their hair shorter every couple of months. For at-home touch-ups, a pair of round-tip scissors is useful for snipping hair around the eyes, paws, and sanitary areas. Clippers can be used for body trims if you’re confident.
I personally take my Yorkie to a professional groomer for haircuts, but I maintain her coat in between by trimming stray hairs and keeping her sanitary areas neat. Don’t forget to trim the hair on the bottom of their paws – if it gets too long it can cause them to slip on floors.
Grooming is an ongoing part of Yorkie ownership, and having these hygiene yorkie accessories from the get-go will save you headaches.
Clothing and Weather Protection is a Must-Have Yorkie Supplies
One thing you might not realize until you have your Yorkie at home: these little pups can get cold easily! Yorkies have hair instead of a thick fur undercoat, so they don’t have a lot of insulation. Depending on your climate (and your fashion sense), you may want to have a few Yorkie accessories in the form of clothing to keep your puppy warm and stylish.
Sweaters, Hoodies, and Coats for Yorkies
If you live in a cooler region or it’s wintertime, a warm sweater or coat is a must for a Yorkie puppy when going outside. My first winter with my pup, I noticed she would shiver on chilly mornings, so I bought her a cute little sweatshirt. Our favorite is the Warm Yorkie Plush Sweatshirt – it’s an ultra-cozy fleece hoodie designed for Yorkies.
It fits her snugly without restricting movement and keeps her tiny body toasty warm. Honestly, it might be the most adorable thing ever to see her prancing around in her plush sweatshirt, and it certainly turns heads during our walks! Beyond fashion, it serves a real purpose: Yorkies are prone to catching a chill, and a sweater helps regulate their body temperature. For very cold weather or snow, you might opt for a dog coat that is water-resistant and lined. And don’t forget pajamas – yes, Yorkie pajamas are a thing! They can be useful if you keep your home AC cool or just want to amp up the cuteness at night.

Raincoat for Yorkies
Yorkies generally don’t like getting wet (my pup will tiptoe around puddles and give me a pathetic look if it’s raining). Having a lightweight dog raincoat or poncho can make rainy potty breaks less miserable for both of you. It keeps their body dry, so you only have to towel off their paws and face afterwards.
Some raincoats even come with hoods to protect their head. It may take a little training for a puppy to get used to wearing a coat or raincoat, but start slowly and use treats. Now when my Yorkie sees her little rain jacket come out, she knows it’s time to brave the drizzle and she patiently lets me Velcro it on.

Boots or Paw Protection
This is one supply I never thought I’d need until I realized how sensitive Yorkie paws can be. Hot pavement in summer, icy sidewalks in winter, or even just rough terrain can be hard on those tiny feet. Dog boots are a great solution – and they’re also hilarious (the first time a puppy wears boots, they often do a funny high-step walk). I decided to get the Waterproof Yorkie Boots for winter, and they have been incredibly useful. These are little non-slip boots that protect my pup’s paws from snow, ice, and road salt. The boots are waterproof and have a secure but comfortable strap, so they actually stay on her feet. It took a few tries for her to get used to them, but now she prances happily even on cold, wet ground because her paws are dry and warm.
In summer, I sometimes use them if we’re walking on hot asphalt to prevent burns. If boots seem like too much for you or your pup, an alternative is paw wax or pad protectors – you apply a wax balm to their paw pads to shield them from hot or cold surfaces. However, I found the boots more effective for truly harsh conditions. Plus, they keep her paws clean, which means fewer muddy footprints inside!

Teacup Yorkie Dog Accessories
If your Yorkie is on the especially small side (often referred to as a “teacup Yorkie”), finding clothes and gear that fit can be challenging. You may need teacup dog accessories – basically the XXS versions of everything.
The good news is that many products on Yorkies-gram and other specialty pet stores are made with these tiny pups in mind. For example, the sweater I mentioned comes in very small sizes that accommodate even a 2 or 3 pound Yorkie.
Always measure your puppy (chest girth, neck, and length) and check size charts before buying clothing or boots. A proper fit is important for safety and comfort. If something is a tad big, your Yorkie might wriggle out of it.
Too tight and they’ll be uncomfortable or resistant. When you find something that fits well, it’s like hitting the jackpot. I ended up getting my pup a teacup Yorkie sweater (size XS) that fits her perfectly, and it has made a world of difference on cold days.
Yorkie Accessories & Styling
Part of the fun of having a Yorkie is that they can rock some pretty fabulous accessories. A simple topknot using a little hair band or bow will keep long hair out of your puppy’s eyes (and give that classic Yorkie look). Be very gentle when brushing and tying up their hair – puppy hair is extra fine. There are also tiny bandanas, bow ties, and even tutus out there for special occasions.
While these are totally optional, I’ll admit I have a small collection of yorkie accessories like bow clips and bandanas for my girl. We save them for photo sessions or when we have company and I want her to look extra cute. She doesn’t mind at all – in fact, I think she struts a little more when she’s all dressed up!
Clothing for yorkies and weather gear might not be absolute essentials in every situation, but for many Yorkie owners, they are a lifesaver. They fall under the category of accessories for small dogs that greatly improve your pup’s quality of life in certain conditions. Plus, let’s face it, a Yorkie in a tiny sweater or raincoat is ridiculously adorable. So, whether it’s for function, fashion, or a bit of both, having a few wardrobe pieces for your Yorkie puppy is definitely worthwhile.

Travel and Safety: Carriers and Car Seats
Yorkshire Terriers make fantastic little travel companions – they’re portable and usually curious about the world. To ensure your Yorkie is safe and comfortable on the go, you’ll need a couple of yorkie supplies for travel: a secure car setup and possibly a carrier for other outings.
Dog Carrier Bag
A carrier is basically a must for toy breeds. It allows you to transport your Yorkie safely in various situations – vet visits, errands, flights, or even just when you want to keep them close in a busy environment. Look for a carrier that is well-ventilated, sturdy, and appropriately sized (your pup should be able to stand up and turn around in it). I have an airline-approved soft carrier that I used extensively when my puppy was very small.
She felt snug and secure in it, and I could carry her hands-free with the shoulder strap. As she grew a bit, I upgraded to the Expandable Yorkie Carrier from Yorkies Gram. This carrier is fantastic – it has an expandable section that zips out to give your Yorkie more room to stretch when you set it down, almost like a little pop-out playpen attached to the carrier.
It’s also stylish and has plenty of pockets (which I love, because I can stash treats, potty bags, and her leash in there). Whether you choose a classic tote style, a backpack carrier, or a sling, having a carrier designed for small dogs will make outings so much easier.
And since Yorkies are so lightweight, carrying them around in a comfy bag is usually no trouble at all. My pup often curls up and naps in her carrier when we’re driving or waiting at the vet, because it’s like her own little den.

Car Seat or Seat Belt Harness
Safety in the car is crucial. You should never have a puppy loose on your lap or roaming the car while you drive – it’s dangerous for both of you. A sudden stop or turn could send a small dog flying off the seat.
The solution is a dog car seat or booster seat that secures to your vehicle. I use the Padded Yorkie Car Seat for my Yorkie and it has been a game-changer. This plush booster seat clips onto the car and elevates her so she can see out the window (Yorkies love to sight-see!), all while being strapped in safely.
It comes with a built-in tether that I attach to my dog’s harness, so she can’t jump out. The padded sides are like a little bed – she often just settles in and snoozes during longer drives. If a full car seat isn’t for you, at the very least get a dog seat belt harness attachment.
That usually involves a special leash that clicks into the seatbelt buckle and attaches to the dog’s harness, keeping them restrained. However, I found the booster seat to be more comfortable and secure for such a small pup, because it keeps her in one spot and she doesn’t get tangled.

Travel Accessories for Yorkies
A few other items make traveling with a Yorkie puppy easier. Keep a small bag packed with travel accessories for Yorkies like collapsible water bowl, a bottle of water, some kibble or treats, poop bags, and a spare leash.
I also include a couple of her favorite toys in the car seat pocket to keep her occupied, and an extra puppy pad or two (I’ve lined the car seat with a pad during potty training days, just in case of an accident on a long drive). If you’re going on a longer trip, bring her grooming supplies and any medications. It’s kind of like packing a diaper bag for a human baby . Think ahead about what your pup might need while away from home. I learned that lesson when I took a day trip and forgot her leash… now I have a backup leash that just lives in the car.

Stroller (Optional)
Some Yorkie owners get a pet stroller, which can be handy in crowded places or if your pup tires out on a long walk. These Yorkie supplies are not an absolute necessity, but it can be useful if you frequent outdoor events or malls where having your dog contained but with you is ideal.
Given how tiny Yorkie puppies are, carrying them is easy enough, but a stroller can be a comfortable, protected spot for them.
Traveling with a Yorkie can be a lot of fun, and with these accessories for small dogs you’ll be prepared for anything. One thing I realized early on is that socializing my Yorkie by taking her to different places (pet-friendly stores, parks, family visits) helped her become a well-adjusted and confident dog.
If you want to browse more handy items and accessories for Yorkies, check out the Yorkie Accessories category on Yorkies Gram. They have a ton of great gear for travel, walking, grooming and more, all designed with Yorkies in mind. I’ve found so many useful products there that I didn’t even know I needed until I saw them!

Toys for Your Yorkie Are The Most Important Yorkie Supplies
No yorkie supplies list would be complete without toys! Yorkie puppies are intelligent, curious, and playful. Providing a variety of toys will keep your pup entertained, help burn off energy, and even soothe them through teething. Plus, playtime is a wonderful way to bond with your new furry friend. Here are some toy tips and recommendations:
Chew Toys for Teething
Puppy teething (around 3 to 6 months of age) can be a challenging time. They have an urge to chew to relieve gum pain, and they might target your furniture or fingers if they don’t have appropriate chew toys.
I quickly learned to always have a chew toy within arm’s reach to redirect my Yorkie when she started gnawing something she shouldn’t. One of her absolute favorites is the Carrot Rope Yorkie Toy.
It’s a durable rope toy shaped like a carrot that’s perfect for teething pups. The texture of the rope fibers helps massage her gums and she loves thrashing and tugging it around.

Because it’s soft but strong, I don’t worry about her breaking a tooth or ingesting pieces. At just a few dollars, this toy was a lifesaver – and it saved my table legs from those sharp little puppy teeth! Other great chew options include small rubber toys and even cold teething toys you can chill in the fridge for extra relief.
Interactive Toys and Puzzles
Yorkies are quite smart and can get bored if not mentally stimulated. Interactive toys, like the slow feeder puzzle mentioned earlier, or treat-dispensing toys, are awesome for engaging your pup’s brain.
Toys for yorkies represent one of the most important accessories in their lives. They keep them engaged, occupied and physically and mentally active. Yorkie Feeding Duck Toy can be a great exercise when you leave your pooch home alone. The scent of the kibble will attract their minds and keep them distracted while their owners are out.

Comfort Toys
Don’t forget that your little Yorkie might really benefit from a soft cuddly toy, especially in the beginning when they might miss their mom and litter mates at night. A plush toy that they can snuggle or carry around can provide comfort.
I gave my pup a small stuffed animal – which I dubbed her “Yorkie buddy” – and she would often cuddle up to it in her bed. Even now at a year old, she still drags that toy around as her friend. Just ensure any stuffed toy doesn’t have hard eyes or pieces that can be chewed off and swallowed. Those labeled for dogs usually have embroidered features for safety. If you ask me, toys are one of the most important Yorkie supplies your dog needs.
Training Toys
Incorporating toys into training can make learning fun. For example, a tug toy can be a reward for “drop it” or “fetch” commands. The Tennis Ball Launcher for Yorkies is one of the best-selling accessories for yorkies in our shop. It’s great both for indoor and outdoor use.

Rotate Yorkie Supplies Is Important
Rather than giving your puppy all the toys at once, it’s a great idea to rotate them. I keep a basket of about 8-10 toys, but I only leave 3 or 4 out at a time. In that way, your dog won’t get bored by playing with certain toys.
Every few days, I swap a couple of toys in and out of circulation. This keeps things “fresh” and exciting for her, as if she’s getting new toys regularly, when in fact they’re just the ones she hasn’t seen in a week.
When I pull out that carrot rope after hiding it for a while, she pounces on it like it’s brand new. Rotating toys also helps you discover which types are her absolute favorites (those you might leave out more often) and which she’s less interested in.
When toys wear out, it’s a good excuse to go shopping for more accessories for Yorkies – and trust me, there are always more cute toys to try!
Playtime isn’t just about having fun. It provides exercise, helps with training, and strengthens your bond. A busy, tired puppy is usually a well-behaved puppy. By including a variety of toys in your yorkie supplies, you’ll keep your little one happy and stimulated.
Are Yorkie Puppies Hard to Take Care Of? Conclusion
Bringing a Yorkie puppy into your life is truly an adventure. With their perky ears, bright eyes, and spunky strut, they have a way of stealing your heart immediately. By gathering all these yorkie supplies, accessories, and setting up your home for success, you’re giving your puppy the best possible start. Note that your pooch is your family member from the moment you bring it home. Therefore, make sure you provide him/her with all
